Do you take notes in your books? I have a (bad?) habit of doing that. Whenever I think of giving my books to others I feel hesitant because I can't remember what I wrote in the margins as I read it :)
No, not really. I think it's a function of when I grew up. Prior to the internet (before '95, but on into the late 90s), information was really, really scarce. I felt like books were too sacred for me to mark up.
Of course, that was a pretty dumb inhibition based on how I grew up, but that's the full answer. Nowadays I rarely read paper anything, which has been quite an evolution.
That's great. I am a sucker for paperbacks. I have been trying to go digital with my reading for years now, as I think that is the most practical way of handling a huge library. But I just can't seem to help myself!
Well, if paper feels right, go with it. I initially converted by necessity - there was stuff I could only read online, longer form stuff I couldn't get paper copies for, so I dove in and built a habit.
Really fun! I think about stellar formation (as a larger mental exercise) any time I can't fall asleep.
If I haven't recommended it yet, let me do so now: "The Five Ages of the Universe" would be really fun for you to read, I think.
Thanks for the recommendation. Bought a paperback. Looking forward to reading it.
Yes! I wish I could just hand you my old copy, but that's not how magic works.... yet.
