Feels like a combination of optimization of what's existing (by way of Ai, of course) and satellites from space starting to provide high-speed internet may begin to close these gaps over the next decade, but will that be sufficient?
That's the big question. Somehow I feel a complete ground up reimagining of the internet is needed as the current model is just not scalable to the level we need. Satellites can be a good addition but I think it needs to be coupled with some form of a mesh network that utilises our devices itself as boosters.
AI is really good at optimizing our current systems, but it seems like we need a sort of creative leap here. It's good to see this stuff called out too - there are lots of things that need to happen, not just the software and hardware improvements everyone follows so closely.
There's also the societal integration aspect... we're certainly only beginning to figure that part out.
